Poetry – it is as it was

listen to the thump

inside my chest

that sound

it is my heart

the rhythm is steady

sometimes

it may change

but it is as it was

yesterday

and the day before

ta-dum ta-dum ta-dum

Poetry – down above the surface…

I float with a heaviness

that will not pass

I lift higher and higher

into the thickness

of moss and soil

I wish for nothing more

than to wake

from this dense slumber

drift downward

swaying like a feather

into the cloud cover

beneath me

here I shall rise

fly to my freedom

through the expansive sky below

Poetry – remember

the breeze

on your cheeks

the strength

of the earth

beneath your feet

the gentle caress

of the clouds

in your hair

relax your brow

lift your chin

smile into the wind

take it all in

all of it

remember

the details

all of them

there will come a time

that this memory

will give you strength

Poetry – simple, slow

fingers

trace

hairline

simple

slow

gentle

past

temple

behind

ear

jaw

neck

chest

resting

on sternum

rise

and fall

quiet

a moment…

Poetry – too… anything

my mind

memory & heart

have always been

my greatest strengths

but also my downfall

they are all too big

too strong

too much

but someday

I will find a place

where I am not

too… anything.

where

I am

what I am.

I look forward

to that day.

Poetry – grapefruit

in the early

morning hours

i sit quietly

sip my coffee

let my eyelids droop

as I breathe in

the scent of coffee

lick the juice

of fresh fruit

from my lips

savour

the sun’s rays

as it warms my skin

I smile to myself

a perfect start

to my day…

Poetry – my mind

my mind

sits quietly

still amongst

the silence

i listen

take it all in

savour it

I hear

the wind

in the trees

rain upon

the window

I sip my coffee

rest my head back

against the chair

this is sunday morning.

Poetry – Things I know

sometimes

you hear things

see things

and think

gosh, I wish

that was for me

but then

reality stands

in front of you

and tells you

very clearly

it is not

so, you just

stand there

close your eyes

and take it all in

the sun

the breeze

and the silence.

Poetry – whisper

whisper to me

in the early

morning light

but as the sun sets

in the evening

just stand with me

and soak it all in…

Poetry – sing softly

sing softly into my ear

sweet river

share your wisdom

as you flow

the secrets of the banks

you pass

all of it

wash over me

i open my arms

and receive you
