I felt safe
calm, quiet
peaceful
near you
and in
this world
that is
precious
I try not
to ask
for more
Instead
I will sit
with the feeling
a moment…

Explore the work of Jacqueline Belle: poet, author and multimedia creator.
I felt safe
calm, quiet
peaceful
near you
and in
this world
that is
precious
I try not
to ask
for more
Instead
I will sit
with the feeling
a moment…
J. Belle

today
my heart
reached out
my finger
touched
your finger…
I stayed
a moment
to smile.
J. Belle

i dreamt of you
in the silence
of slumber
last night
i twirled
amongst
the trees
danced
in the freshly
fallen snow
i looked into
your joyful eyes
my cheeks rose
broadening smile
i closed my eyes
turned toward
shining sun
i stood
savouring
the moment
J. Belle

She crouched down
at the foot of the sea
ripples lapped
at her hemline
arms wrapped
around her knees
she whispered
softly
almost
to herself
but mostly
to the sea
never enough…
I am
simply
never enough
she grows weary
presses her chin
to her knees
lifts herself up
stands facing the waters
breathes in the salt air
turns
continues
walking along
the shoreline
waves caressing
her feet
her ankles
and calves
enough no longer
has value
I simply
am.
J. Belle

time
cradled me
in the palm
of his hand
looking up
i whispered
quietly
will you
hold me
just for
a little while?
time nodded
cupped his
fingers
gently
calmly
I curled up
tucked
into the
crevasses
of time’s
worn hands
as he carried me
across the threshold…
J. Belle

time takes hold
bound by his grip
blind trust
firm squeeze
pupils dilated
scarcely
breathe
following
please
lead me
slowly
gently
shuffling
through
the darkness
into the light.
J. Belle

stay with me
in the moonlight
rest with me
in the moonlight
wait with me
in the moonlight
and dawn
will bring us right
J. Belle

Slowly
patiently
meticulously
building
foundation
knowledge
needed
to create
what my mind
sees.
J. Belle

a life spent
not looking
for something
I hadn’t been
waiting for
until it found me
lacking
inability
to savour
the moment
then it was gone
leaving
the whole me
reduced
by half
now I stand
grieving
missing parts
without knowing
what they are
or were…
J. Belle

everything
we do
undulates
outward
look around
it can be seen
along the surface
of the waters…
what is it that
your ripples
send out
into the world?
