blink slowly
not quite awake
the sun peaks
over the horizon
good morning
she whispers
my smile broadens
eyelids droop
snuggle deeper
under my duvet
drift back
into slumber
thinking of you.

blink slowly

J. Belle

snow falls softly
on the surface
settles there
flake by flake
buffering the noise
within
my chin tilts
downward
my eyelids close
exhale…
resting without
a sound
snowflakes fall
flake by flake
all around me.
J. Belle

I sit
at my window
watching
the snow fall
on the city below
there’s a
softness
about the morning
all the edges
blurred
there’s comfort
in knowing
that the harshness
of the night
worn smooth
the morning sigh
caresses
my cheeks
& forehead
I am left
breathless
J. Belle

I can feel
the warm sun
through the wool
on my back,
the cool breeze
on my bare face,
taste the salty air
on my tongue.
I feel a refreshing
spray of water
each time I hear
a crashing wave.
I can feel the cold rock
and slick algae
beneath my feet.
I breathe
and exhale…
I am here.
J. Belle

Every day
I wake
with the ache
of a broken heart.
Each day
I stretch
and greet
the morning sun.
Open my heart
refill my cup
smile into the world
exhale
and carry on
with my day.
That
is
resilience.

I am what I am
but only I can be me.
J. Belle

Birds chirp
wings beating
in the air
a chorus
of frogs below
squirrels chitter
wind rustling
through
last years leaves
reaching out
warm sun
cool breeze
firm yet sways
smooth papery
to touch
yet rough
against
my forehead
pause…
a moment.
J. Belle

Pieces
are missing
but a full heart
all the same.
J. Belle

It’s simple
to just stand here
watching
the sun rise
over the rooftops
Reaching for that
first golden ray
it warms my skin
I look down
onto the street below
there he is
stirring up
the last
of the morning mist
Such pleasure
to be quiet
in the first
morning light.
