my fingers
motionless
barely touching
the keys
my body tingles
mind relaxes
breath slows
the world
around me
becomes fuzzy
and warm
it’s at that moment
that exact moment
just before
it begins…

There are days
that even though
I know who I am
it’s hard to see
how I fit into
this world
around me.
J. Belle

it is the little things
100 beans
counted slowly
ground by hand
press & drip
froth & pour
a little heart
leaf or flower
it is warm
in my hands
as I pause…
the scent wafts
eyes close
corners of my mouth
curl upward
these are the things
that give me joy
in the moment
and hope
for the future.
J. Belle

snow falls softly
on the surface
settles there
flake by flake
buffering the noise
within
my chin tilts
downward
my eyelids close
exhale…
resting without
a sound
snowflakes fall
flake by flake
all around me.
J. Belle

When a lot of things
happen all at once
it’s best to pause
breathe
rest
J. Belle

I sit
at my window
watching
the snow fall
on the city below
there’s a
softness
about the morning
all the edges
blurred
there’s comfort
in knowing
that the harshness
of the night
worn smooth
the morning sigh
caresses
my cheeks
& forehead
I am left
breathless
J. Belle

it is okay
to sit quietly
smile to yourself
and just feel joy.
J. Belle

why am I
forever waiting
for things
that exist
only inside
my mind
J. Belle

…that wonderful time
in the evening
when I can sit
in a comfy chair
with a mug of tea
some relaxing music
let all the thoughts
inside my mind
slosh & slide around
until they finally settle
in all the right cracks
and crevasses.
J. Belle

I stand
arms spread wide
eyes lifted
to the sky
my smile
widens
as the droplets
trickle down
my arms
and chest
settling
on the sidewalk
beneath me
the subtle taste
of city in the rain.
