Poetry – breathe

Close your eyes

gently slide your finger

down your forehead

along and under

your nose

across each lip

over your chin

slowly slowly

down your throat

neck and chest

breathe

smile to yourself

you are alive.

Poetry – The Trek

The wind

was fierce

it blew

with such force

I could barely stand.

I lay down

in the grasses

while it howled

and thrashed

against me.

I called out

to the clouds

until my voice

ran hoarse

my mouth dry.

Invigorated

rejuvenated

and ready

for the long trek

home.

Poetry – I am here

I can feel

the warm sun

through the wool

on my back,

the cool breeze

on my bare face,

taste the salty air

on my tongue.

I feel a refreshing

spray of water

each time I hear

a crashing wave.

I can feel the cold rock

and slick algae

beneath my feet.

I breathe

and exhale…

I am here.
